Salford Residents Praise Salix Homes for BSL Success

Salix Homes has proved that Deaf and disability awareness is at the top of its agenda after residents praised the organisation for training its staff in British Sign Language (BSL).

As five members of staff celebrated passing their BSL Level 2 exams last week, the Salford-based Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) has been providing BSL training for its front line staff since 2008.

Humza Yousaf MSP is holding a surgery for deaf people at Touchbase, 43 Middlesex Street, Glasgow on Friday 07 October, from 10.30am - 12.30pm. He is a list MSP for Glasgow, but he would be happy to try to help anyone that he can, wherever they are from.

This conference will focus on all aspects of the welfare reform agenda. There will be presentations from key speakers about welfare reform, the welfare to work and access to work agendas.

Call for Sign Language Users

The Wunderbar Festival is inviting Sign Language users to take part as Co-Recitors in a performance.

The performance itself is a collective recitation in Sign Language of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and will take place on Wednesday 2 November 2011, at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead.
