We are delighted to announce that the first students from City College Coventry have successfully completed the Signature Level 3 Certificate in Learning Support (Communication Support Worker).
The qualification was created and launched in September 2010 as part of the I-Sign Project. One of the project aims was to develop a higher level qualification for communication support workers who assist deaf children in the classroom. The qualification provides those who want to be learning support practitioners with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills in order to effectively fulfill the specialist role.
Jo Staples who has successfully completed the course at City College Coventry said; “I work as a learning support assistant with students who have a wide range of learning difficulties. After completing British Sign Language Level 1, 2 and 3, I started the Signature Level 3 Certificate in Learning Support (Communication Support Worker). The course had many benefits and I have learned the appropriate skills and specific training to support deaf students in education. This course offers all the experience and a range of specialised units needed to give individual support to Deaf students. I enjoyed all the assignments and research I worked on. I would recommend this course to individuals who want to improve their skills and communication methods as a support worker in education. It has helped me to support students with their own abilities and I have grown within my role at college.”
